Community prompt: Share your nerdiest holiday memories

When I was a child, the best Christmas gifts I ever received were a copy of the Star Wars Trilogy boxed set and a Nintendo 64. Nothing will ever top those two gifts as my all-time favorites (unless I get that R2D2 Droid 2 phone I've been asking for — fingers crossed!). I have some pretty nerdy Christmas memories, too. I remember watching The Empire Strikes Back in my footed pajamas and spending hours playing Super Mario 64 with my father afterward. (His turns always seemed to last so much longer than mine.)

Video games top the wishlists of nearly everyone I know. Thanks to the Wii, that even includes my older relatives (though, I have to admit that waving a controller around like an idiot really does bring the family together). Last Christmas, the seven of us played Wii Sports for hours. And you wanna know what the best part was? The only people in attendance under 48 years of age were my brother and me.

Anyway, I was hoping the community might share some stories, too. Add them to the comments, or better yet, write a post of your own! Here are a few questions to get you started:

  • What are some of your favorite holiday memories?
  • What is the best holiday gift you've ever recieved?
  • What is on your wishlist this year?
  • What is the nerdiest give you've ever given?
  • Are you giving any nerdy gifts this year?
