Valve published the results of the 2025 Steam Awards, which take popular votes from users on the titular PC gaming platform to elect winners in various categories. While Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took home the win at The Game Awards and the Golden Joysticks, Steam’s Game of the Year went to a different indie darling: The long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Given that gamers have been waiting years for Silksong, it’s perhaps not a surprise that its launch inspired so much appreciation from the PC gaming community. Perhaps tellingly, it also won the “Game You Suck At Award,” which the category notes is for “the toughest game we’ve ever loved.”

Other major winners include:

  • VR Game of the Year Award: The Midnight Walk
  • Labor of Love Award: Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Best Game on Steam Deck Award: Hades II
  • Better With Friends Award: Peak
  • Outstanding Visual Style Award: Silent Hill f
  • Most Innovative Gameplay Award: ARC Raiders
  • Best Soundtrack Award: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
  • Outstanding Story-Rich Game Award: Dispatch
  • Sit Back and Relax Award: RV There Yet?

A Steam spokesperson said in a statement, “Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners, and thank you to all who voted. Huge shout out to everyone who made Steam such a great community this year, from the players to the developers. Here’s to a 2026 filled with making and finding your NEXT new favorite games (and rediscovering old faves)!”
