Holding off the robot swarm in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

Ethan the robot serves as your friend in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. But most of the robots are fighting for the enemy, the Settlement Defense Front. And some of the most intense battles in the new entry in the $15 billion Call of Duty franchise involve robot hordes.

I’ve played through the game and will post our review later. For now, you can witness one of the robot swarm battles below. I had to play this one over a few times before I was able to survive through it. I unfortunately had lobbed all of my grenades before the robot scene, so I had to rely on my assault rifle and my hapless drone to take out the robots. The nice thing about the robots is that they’re predictable. But they’re also fast enough to take you out if you aren’t paying attention or you’re running out of ammo. They provide an alternate enemy to the infantry grunts, and it is quite satisfying to mow them down.

This part of the game feels more like a co-op play, as you’re teamed up with several characters who can help you fight off the robots. Such swarm scenes were also a big part of Gears of War 4’s single-player campaign, and they make for some very sweaty combat moments.

Check out our video of one of the intense robot firefights in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which debuts on Friday on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
