Soon, every Blizzard character will feel the pain of gravity.
Blizzard announced today that Zarya, the Russain character from the team-based shooter Overwatch, is coming to Heroes of the Storm, its multiplayer online battle arena. Heroes of the Storm combines characters across all of Blizzard’s franchises. Overwatch is the company’s newest series, and Zarya is only the second hero to come to Overwatch following Tracer. It’s free-to-play and available on PC.
In Overwatch, Zarya can place a shield on herself or allies that absorbs damage for a short time, which also makes her regular attacks stronger. Her ultimate ability traps the enemy team in a gravity well.
MOBAs are some of the most popular PC games, especially in the growing esports scene. League of Legends and Dota 2 are some of the most popular lucrative, although Blizzard hasn’t released many numbers for Heroes of the Storm.
Blizzard is also releasing a StarCraft character for Heroes: Alarak, a Protoss commander. Both will become available during an event called Machines of War Event, which will also introduce two new maps themed around StarCraft.
