Harry Potter's Hogwarts Legacy

Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy debuts on PS5 in 2021

Sony unveiled that Warner Bros. is working on a new Harry Potter game dubbed Hogwarts Legacy for the PlayStation 5. The game will debut in 2021, and it will also be on the Xbox Series X and S, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment revealed the game during the PlayStation 5 Showcase today. The title takes you through the usual learning of wizardry skills at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from J.K. Rowling’s popular Harry Potter novels. While the series has ended, this game looks like it goes beyond the tales to a time before the books.

Avalanche Software and Portkey Games are working on the title for Warner Bros. As you can see in the trailer, the graphics look top-notch. The characters are unfamiliar. There are some big dinosaur-like creatures, but it looks like all of the people and the fantastic beasts in this game may be original creations. That should be good for Potter fans looking for something fresh. It takes place in the “late 1800s” where you add your own story and “shape the future of the wizarding world.”

For instance, you go outside of Hogwarts into the wild and fight with trolls and a fire-breathing dragon. We haven’t seen a major console-focused Harry Potter game in a long time, so this should be fun to play.

The narrator says “there is a larger world beyond these walls,” full of danger. You have to unlock a dormant power.

Hogwarts Legacy goes outside of the school.

In a press release, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment said the game is an open-world, single-player, action role-playing game. Players will experience life as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and must embark on a journey to uncover a hidden truth of the wizarding world.

In the game, witches or wizards will grow their character’s abilities as they master spells, hone combat skills, and select companions to help them face off against deadly enemies. Players will also encounter missions and scenarios that will pose difficult choices and determine what they stand for. The open-world journey takes players beyond Hogwarts to new and familiar wizarding world locations, such as the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade Village.
