The world of Grand Theft Auto V is just too large for the aging digital versatile disc (DVD) format. That is forcing developer Rockstar Games to release the open-world crime title on two discs for Xbox 360.

That might sound like a bummer, but don’t you worry — the two-disc release doesn’t mean you’ll have to get up off the couch every couple of hours to swap DVDs.

“Disc 1 will be used for a one-time mandatory install, and Disc 2 will be used to play the game,” a Rockstar spokesperson wrote on the developer’s blog. “After the install, players will be able to enjoy both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online without any need to switch discs.”

Since Grand Theft Auto V requires an install, Xbox 360 owners will need either a hard drive or at least a 16GB USB flash drive. The flash drive needs 8GB of free space and USB 2.0 compatibility.

If you’re planning on grabbing GTA V for PlayStation 3, don’t think you are much better off. Yes, the game is only on one disc for PlayStation 3, but it still requires that 8GB installation.
