I find it kind of funny. I find it kind of sad.
A new trailer for the Xbox One version of Xbox 360 shooter Gears of War brings back the song “Mad World” to the franchise. “Mad World” was originally in a commercial for the first game and helped drum up interest in the then new franchise with its melancholy mood. Of course, the commercial also made some players feels misled when they experienced the actual game, which was much less thoughtful and somber than the “Mad World” trailer made it seem. Instead, Gears of War was more of a bro-filled action experience.
However, people still remember that original trailer fondly, so it’s neat to see Microsoft bring “Mad World” back to promote the Gears of War Ultimate Edition, which comes out on August 25.
