Funimation has new partners to bring more anime-based games to mobile and browsers

Expect to see more anime games on social platforms.

Funimation, a U.S. company that distributes Japanese cartoons to the states, announced partnerships with developers and publishers GameSamba and NGames that will bring new, free-to-play games based on its anime shows to mobile and browsers. NGames and GameSamba have already worked together on the browser-based Star Trek: Alien Domain.

“Quality games based on popular series are increasing in demand,” said Jacky Yung, chief executive officer of NGames in a press release sent to GamesBeat. “With NGames’s experience in developing and publishing games, Funimation’s leadership in brand acquisition, marketing and rights management, and GameSamba’s expertise in the U.S. gaming market, I’m very excited to see what we can accomplish together.”

Funimation is best known for distributing the popular anime Dragon Ball Z in the U.S., although it’s also worked on popular shows like One Piece and Attack on Titan.
