Electronic Arts released its trailer for Battlefield 6, revealing loud moments and explosions as well as some story details.
There have been many leaks of gameplay and other details, but it’s nice to see EA’s own Battlefield Labs reveal their view of what this game is all about. The company said that the multiplayer reveal is coming on July 31, so the details here are about the single-player campaign. Does it look good? Yes. Will I play it? Yes. I will be attending EA’s event for the further revelations later. Let’s move on.
I like what I see, though some of the details like the soldiers stacking up on a door they’re about to bash in reminds me of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and its legendary Townhouse mission. Of course, in Battlefield fashion, a helicopter comes crashing through the building to interrupt the scene. Our last look at such a trailer was in 2021 with Battlefield 2042.
It starts out with a nervous president of the U.S. rehearsing his speech about his response to a terrorist attack by a mercenary group called the Pax Armata. His message to them: It’s over. And that’s about all the narrative we get as the takeover follows with combat scenes, vehicle battles, destructible environments like buildings falling, and massive battles.
Thanks to the delay of Grand Theft Auto VI, Battlefield 6, rumored to be coming this year in October, is going to be one of the biggest video games of the year. It’s no secret in part because EA has been running huge testing groups that have leaked out.
The battle scenes look great, and we see the mixed combat on land, air and sea as part of the Battlefield signature that separates it from Call of Duty, which is getting its reveal at Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live at Gamescom on August 19.
The game is evidently coming for the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The game will also launch on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. In a press release, EA said the trailer gives us the first look at Pax Armata, a Private Military Corporation bankrolled by former NATO states whose agenda threatens to throw the world into global conflict. This sets the scene for what players can expect on the battlefield – both in multiplayer and the return of the series’ single player campaign.
In Battlefield 6, the series’ incredible blend of visceral combat, epic warfare, and player freedom returns. Blow through walls and bring down buildings for a tactical advantage or take to the skies in white-knuckle dogfights. Take part in a war filled with tanks, fighter jets, and sweeping combat at a grand scale but remember: the deadliest weapon is your squad.
