LOS ANGELES — A shiny, new Xbox One will set you back $499 in the U.S., Microsoft today announced during its press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.
In Europe, it will cost 499€ or 429 Euros.
Billed as an “all-in-one entertainment device,” the Xbox One will feature 64-bit architecture, 8GB RAM, a Blu-ray disc drive, and a 500GB hard drive. It will also come with an integrated Kinect motion controller that enables voice commands.
The $499 figure is a bit higher than what analysts Michael Pachter and Nick McKay predicted to GamesBeat one week ago. They believed it would have a starting price of $399. “Our estimate of the bill of materials for the Xbox One — based upon speculation regarding many of the specs — is around $325, suggesting that Microsoft could make a modest profit at the $399 price point,” they said at the time.
The Xbox One will hit store shelves sometime in November. It’s available for pre-order now.
