Displate, the manufacturer of a popular line of metal posters, announced today that it’s launching a new option for buyers called Custom Displates. Whereas the main line of posters consists of licensed images of characters and settings from video games, films, anime and shows; Custom Displates depict images chosen by the user. These can be personal photos, pieces of artwork, or anything else that they like.

Custom Displates are created in the same manner as other Displates, just with the added step that the user uploads the image themselves to the manufacturer website. They are available in medium (17.7″x12.6″) and large (26.6″x18.9″) sizes and both matte and glossy finishes, and come with Displate’s tool-free mounting system included. They’re available for $49.99 for Displate Club members and $59.99 to everyone else.

Displate posters are frequently a staple for gaming communities. Bartek Małecki, Displate CEO, said in a statement, “Displate has always been where fans come to collect the worlds they love, including favorite video games, movies, TV shows, and more. With Custom Displates, we’re handing the creative reins to our community, enabling collectors to showcase metal posters of their own unique art, passions, and inside jokes right alongside their favorite franchises.”

Zuza Szczepecka, Displate’s brand and communications director, told GamesBeat in an interview that a custom option was previously exclusive to its Displate Club members. “Your personal collection could include your favorite gaming artwork, an artist’s work, and an amazing limited edition. We felt that the one thing that was missing in this whole puzzle is something that is designed by you, which would tell the whole story of who you are and what you care about.”
