Crunchyroll announced today that it is partnering with A Plus Japan to launch the English release of Bleach: Soul Resonance outside of Asia sometime later this year. Pre-registration is available on iOS and Android now. To mark the occasion, Crunchyroll also released Bleach on its Crunchyroll Manga label last week, allowing those who purchase the premium add-on to catch up on the story of Bleach.
Bleach: Soul Resonance is an action-RPG with a storyline adapted from the manga. The game will have around 16 characters at launch, including three variations of protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki, with more to come at some point later. Crunchyroll also promises an “80-draw guarantee” for players to have a chance at their favorite characters.
According to Crunchyroll, the game features seamless character switching and synergistic combos, with characters unleashing their Zanpakuto on each other. On mobile, players direct the swings of their swords with touch controls, with each character’s blade having customized feedback.
At present, Bleach (the anime) is not available to watch on Crunchyroll, but rather on Hulu. Parent company Disney acquired the streaming rights to the series, as well as the movie Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War in 2022. The manga’s launch on Crunchyroll Manga instead offers another way for Soul Resonance players to catch up on the story.
Crunchyroll publishes the game in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America. A Plus Japan publishes it in other European countries and the Middle East.
