Chess Arena, a chess battle royale from indie game studio Millions of Monsters, is kicking off its closed beta on October 25.
Millions of Monsters was cofounded by CEO Kartik Trehan and Alexandra Botez, a chess master and one of the biggest chess creators (wit more than four million followers across platforms). It’s part of a movement to make chess faster and more fun, based on my interview with Magnus Carlsen back in August at the Esports World Cup.
The close beta test kicks off October 25 and will run until November 2 on PC/Steam. Players can sign up for a chance to join the Closed Beta on Steam.
Chess Arena is a fast-paced, tactical brawl where 40 players fight to be the last King standing. It blends the timeless strategy of chess with the action, chaos and social energy of competitive battle royales:
- Jump into a massive chessboard map featuring multiple biomes and terrain obstacles
- Master real-time movement of chess pieces to outmaneuver opponents
- Choose from powerful champions with unique ability kits that shift the tides of battle
- Level up your powers by completing PvE challenges and checkmating players
- Survive as the poison storm closes in on the board.
During the Closed Beta period, players will get a chance to participate in a calendar of exciting events, content drops and fun prizes as they battle their way through the board.
Millions of Monsters was co-founded by Alexandra Botez, a chess master and one of the biggest chess creators. Botez is a five-time Canadian girls national champion for chess and a one-time U.S. girls.
