After wallowing for over a decade in a mire of mediocre and downright humiliating titles, the Dark Knight finally has a video game worthy of his own storied reputation. To borrow a quote from another legendary piece of Batman media, this is the game we need and deserve.
It still amazes me how often some ultra-niche Japanese games find their way to the western hemisphere. Plenty of popular games come from Japan (everyone and their mother knows who Mario is), but some games are so steeped in Japanese mythology and culture that it’s borderline pretentious.
People who played video games during the 16-bit era may remember a title that resulted from an all-star collaboration between two powerhouse developers: Square and Nintendo. This title, known as Mario RPG, was loved by many due to the action and humor it brought to the RPG genre.
