Activision and Paramount Skydance today confirmed the release date for the upcoming Call of Duty film adaptation: June 30, 2028.
Paramount revealed the release date during CinemaCon. Rob Kostich of Activision presented a sizzle reel alongside director and producer Peter Berg, who’s also writing the film script alongside Taylor Sheridan. They didn’t release any information about the film itself, with the sizzle reel being made up of footage from the games.
Kostich said at CinemaCon (via The Hollywood Reporter), “I told everyone we were only going to make a movie if its right. In David Ellison [CEO of Paramount Skydance], we found that partnership. We want to make sure that the authenticity of it is captured on a human level so that it feels really real and infuse that with epic scope.”
Paramount Skydance and Activision first revealed the film deal last year, with Ellison professing to be a fan of Call of Duty and saying that being trusted to adapt it for film is, “both an honor and a responsibility that we don’t take lightly.” He added that the company wants to meet the fans’ standards for the franchise. No one has yet confirmed which game’s story, if any, will feature as part of the adaptation.
