Some Android games are about to find a whole new audience.
Today, casual-gaming publisher Big Fish announced that it is adding the ability to play Android games through its Windows and Mac app.
“Big Fish is now able to offer Android games to the more than a billion consumer PC and Mac ‘devices’ worldwide,” Big Fish chief executive Paul Thelen said in a statement. “Android developers can, for the first time, access a huge player base through Big Fish’s global PC and Mac app store.”
Big Fish is using an Android app player from software technology company BlueStacks. This program creates a virtual Android environment on the PC or Mac.
More than 80 million gamers use Big Fish’s PC and Mac clients, and now Android developers can tap them as a potential revenue source. To access this audience, developers need to simply implement Big Fish’s API plug-in into their titles.
“This deal is a huge win for mobile developers who want to offer their games to PC or Mac players without having to do any work,” BlueStacks CEO Rosen Sharma said. “There is no one bigger in the casual gaming space than Big Fish, and there are many developers that we have worked with in the past interested in this new market opportunity.”
