Best Xbox 360 Racing Game: Burnout Revenge

Burnout Revenge, do those words mean a thing to any of you? Because to me those words bring back a whole bunch of memories of late nights and loud noises. Some of you may remember another game going by the Burnout name, something along the lines of "Paradise" this game does not exist people, no matter what you say that game was a big disappointment. Burnout is currently the best racing game in all of existence, but why?

Burnout is by far more fun than any other racing game, basically for the fact that it is more arcade style of a game, no realism to be found here. Realism may be fun for some people, but it's usually for people who know all about cars, you know eats drinks and breaths cars. But for those of us who want to just have a really good time doing that what you should be doing in a video game – being UN-realistic. That's why I play video games, if I could do any of this stuff in real life, I'd probably be doing it in real life. But sadly the vast majority of what we do in video games is illegal in reality, so game on.

So, since this game is not realistic you get to do things, that are, unrealistic. Like jump off conveniently placed ramps and gaining boost by driving on the wrong side of the road, these things are all fun, and all require skills to be executed correctly.

you can use small cars as projectiles by running into them!

The fun of racing comes mainly from when you have mastered every track, that sounds like a lot of work, yes. But since this game is so arcadey it pays off to master every track down to every last drift on every single turn, it is a very rewarding game to master, and you won't regret it. In no time you will notice how much more instinctual it becomes and how much more intense your competition becomes. And if you cannot win by sheer racing prowess alone you can always take your opponents down to help yourself get ahead and not to mention feel great about totally owning.

Mixing those things together, already has built a great experience that you can easily spend all night questing for online glory. But what other intricacies make a race take even more skill? Let's take a look at all the small factors that can possibly make or break an entire race. To begin with you can begin a race with a boost start, which is kind of a secret technique that isn't documented anywhere within the game, in short it is really annoying until you find out how to do it, but that's what friends are for! After you get that down, all you really have to worry about is not getting taken down, knowing all the good shortcuts, driving on the wrong side of the road, and making sure to screw everyone else over any chance you get. And that's pretty much all you need to know to win, you will get pretty addicted quite quickly.

This is when you laugh at the guy behind you.

As for the selection of cars available to the player, when playing online no car is off limits, so most people are going to use the best car in the game, and there's nothing wrong with that, some prefer the second or third best car and they can still win. But what it comes down to is how much skill you have, and of course using the best car doesn't hurt. All that having the best car available to all is making sure that everyone is on equal grounds making skills the true determining factor of who the ultimate burner is. But when it comes to offline, you have to unlock all your cars by winning and doing really great in events, which in turn makes you a better racer overall, nothing wrong with that.

Single player is also very arcade like, being you have to do so well on a certain event to earn stars and unlock the next tier, and the tiers become increasingly hard as you advance. You will really enjoy the single player mode if you are big on being a perfectionist, as I am. Obtaining 100% completion is a great feeling in any game, especially when it lets you know how great you are.

There are a few different modes in the game besides racing, like the famous crash mode where you just try to incur as much damage as possible by crashing yourself and getting other cars to pile on top of you. This is where the game takes a turn away from the super hardcore seriousness of the racing mode in favor of a more party oriented scene, this mode makes for endless hours of fun as well, whether you be playing locally with friends or online against fellow gamers. This mode just further supports that this game is the best by proving  any audience can enjoy the soothing sounds of explosions and shrapnel being thrown every which way regardless of age, skill level or whether they be hardcore or casual.

Family fun at its finest.

So, overall after buying this game you will be inevitably glued to your respective TV screen/ place where you sit your behind in . This game is filled with replayability and takes a fair amount of time to master but in the end it's all too worth it, and in between your intervals of intense practicing you can invite your friends and family to come smash stuff up with you in yet more endless hours of wholesome fun in crash mode. So whether you be the family type, or the hardcore type, even if you are both, this game will deliver the thrills and lingering smell of burnt rubber right into your living room.
