Ballistic Moon, the young studio behind the remake of Supermassive’s Until Dawn, has apparently ceased to exist. Reports reveal that the studio filed paperwork with the UK government (it was based in Surrey) last November, and a notice in the Final Gazette shows that the company has dissolved as of February 3.

The studio laid off staff in 2024, shortly before the remake launched. They said at the time, “As the games industry continues to face complex challenges, we at Ballistic Moon are confronted with some difficult realities. It is with deep regret and a heavy heart that we must make the tough decision to significantly scale down our team to secure the future of our studio.”

Since then, rumors circulated that Ballistic Moon had closed, with Insider Gaming reporting that the studio had “effectively closed” and that there were so few employees left that no one was supporting the Until Dawn remake post-launch. The studio has not made a public statement on the studio closure as yet, but it also has not announced any new projects since launch.

The paperwork filed with the government also shows that the studio’s co-founders Duncan Kershaw, Chris Lennox-Lamb and Neil McEwan, each changed their service address to match the studio’s default P.O. Box. The founders have not issued any statement either, but Kershaw’s LinkedIn shows that he ended his work at Ballistic Moon last October.
