Atlantis Studio comes out of stealth to make immersive Unreal Engine 5 games

Atlantis Studio has come out of stealth as a privately funded game development studio based in the south of France.

Cofounded by industry luminaries Ru Weerasuriya and Nico Augusto, Atlantis Studio brings together a wealth of experience and a passion for crafting innovative gaming experiences. They will focus on immersive games built with Unreal Engine 5. The company is focused on PC and console games.

The studio boasts a talented team of game industry veterans who have previously contributed their expertise to renowned companies such as Ubisoft, Ready At Dawn Studios and Midgar Studio. This collective experience positions Atlantis Studio as a promising new force in the gaming world, poised to deliver high-quality and engaging titles.

The studio has already embarked on its first ambitious game, leveraging the capabilities of the Unreal Engine 5. Epic’s engine will enable Atlantis Studio to create visually stunning and immersive game worlds without incurring costs for developing proprietary engines.

“We are thrilled to announce the creation of Atlantis Studio in the beautiful South of France region” said Weerasuriya, cofounder of Atlantis Studio, in a statement. “Our vision is to foster a creative and collaborative environment where experienced talent can come together to develop games driven by our common passions.”

Weerasuriya was former president of Ready At Dawn Studios, which made games such as the Sony console game The Order: 1888, Lone Echo, Echo Arena and Echo Combat for VR. It was acquired by Meta to make VR games but it shut down in August 2024.

Nico Augusto, cofounder, added in a statement, “The core team at Atlantis Studio is composed of exceptional and talented individuals. Together, we are looking forward to sharing with everyone the world we are crafting.”

Atlantis Studio is actively seeking to expand its ranks and is currently hiring multiple developers. Interested candidates are encouraged to explore the live listings available on the company’s official website at atlantisstudio.fr. News about its game will come out later.
