Vantage Studios, a Ubisoft company, announced that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the latest installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, has sold more than 3 million copies worldwide since its July 9 release. The milestone follows 2 million copies sold on day one and reflects continued momentum during the game’s first week.
Following strong critical reception, player sentiment has been increasingly positive, with Steam user reviews rated “Very Positive.” This reflects the team’s responsive post-launch support including quality-of-life updates, bug fixes, and the recent announcement of the highly requested New Game+ mode, which will further enhance replayability.
Building on the legacy of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, originally released in 2013, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a faithful remake rebuilt from the ground up and powered by the latest Anvil engine. Led by Ubisoft Singapore, the game features greatly improved visuals and gameplay, including parry‑driven combat, stealth and parkour, deeper naval mechanics, and new narrative content.
Set during the Golden Age of Piracy, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced invites players to sail the Caribbean as Edward Kenway, a rebellious pirate captain drawn into the centuries-old conflict between Assassins and Templars. As Edward pursues glory and fortune, he crosses paths with legendary figures such as Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, and Calico Jack, while the fate of everything the pirates have built hangs in the balance.
Black Flag Resynced is a faithful remake of the original Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, but it feels a lot more like a modern Ubisoft game such as Assassin’s Creed Shadows or Assassin’s Creed Mirage. However, it retains what made the original adventure beloved and adds enough new content to justify a second playthrough for those who enjoyed the original, such as the new Officer Quests and a new chapter that can be played between Sequence 11 and 12 (or after the main story has been finished).
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is available on Ubisoft+, PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC through the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The game is Steam Deck verified.
