Activision revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has a variety of features to make the game more accessible to players with accessibility challenges.

For instance, it has a feature where you can turn up the outlines of players on the battlefield so that near-blind people can see them better.

The company said the world of gaming is evolving, and with it, so is the Call of Duty franchise. Call of Duty general manager Johanna Faries highlighted this emphasis in a talk on brand strategy at our GamesBeat at The Game Awards event last week.

The latest installment, Modern Warfare III, not only amplifies its action-packed gameplay but also prioritizes inclusivity through a range of cutting-edge accessibility options.

The game presents an array of customization settings, allowing players to tailor their gaming experience regardless of the mode they engage in. While some familiar options return, Modern Warfare III ups the ante with a host of fresh accessibility innovations.

Enhanced settings menu

Modern Warfare III has improved accessibility.

A substantial overhaul greets players in the settings menu.

The updated interface offers a detailed preview of in-game adjustments before they are officially applied. Now tagged for clarity, the settings highlight specific features catering to motor, vision, audio, and cognitive adaptations. This intelligent categorization enables users to filter options seamlessly, streamlining their search for personalized settings.

One standout update lies within the controller settings. The game presents a comprehensive breakdown, allowing players to finely tune their inputs. A visual representation accompanies each alteration, granting gamers a real-time glimpse into how their controls will be affected. This feature, particularly beneficial for individuals with motor disabilities, enables precise adjustments to enhance their gameplay comfort.

High contrast for enhanced visibility

As you can see in the picture at the top of the story, the introduction of high contrast mode extends a lifeline to gamers with vision impairments or color blindness. Activating this mode delineates allies in blue-green and foes in red, providing clearer distinctions in real-time.

While available exclusively in campaign mode, this feature significantly aids players, empowering them with better visual acuity and seamless identification during intense combat sequences.

“Low Motor Strain” Preset

Players can customize dead zone inputs.

Another accessibility preset, “Low Motor Strain,” was also highlighted. Designed to minimize physical effort during gameplay, this preset reduces the need for extensive button presses or holds while increasing sensitivity. This addition, integrated alongside existing presets like simplified controls and motion reduction, ensures swift access for users reliant on accessibility features.

With over 40% of players customizing deadzone inputs in its predecessor, Modern Warfare II, the revamped settings menu in Modern Warfare III aims to provide enhanced feedback, further simplifying the customization experience.
