Nintendo has released both the Donkey Kong Country (originally on Super Nintendo) and Donkey Kong Land (originally for Game Boy) trilogies for the Wii U and 3DS Virtual Console digital shops. Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong’s Quest, and Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble are on the Wii U, and Donkey Kong Land, Donkey Kong Land 2, and Donkey Kong Land 3 are on the 3DS. All six games are classic 2D platformers featuring a cast Nintendo’s famous apes.

Also, anyone who buys at least one of the Donkey Kong games will get 30 percent off the purchase of the more recent Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze for Wii U and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D for the 3DS. That offer lasts until Tuesday.

The Donkey Kong Country series was originally developed by Rare, a studio now owned by Microsoft. Retro Studios, the same team behind the Metroid Prime games, created the recent Donkey Kong Country Returns games.
