On Tuesday, April 14th (tomorrow) NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat X releases on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. If PC is your platform of choice, you can catch a price break by pre-ordering this week. Currently a Steam top seller – ranked #2 and #3, just behind GTA V – the discount works on both the Standard Edition and the pricier Premium Edition of Mortal Kombat X, saving you as much as $29 off the list price.

GMG Deal:

DLGamer Deal:

Note: GMG’s coupon code expires soon – tomorrow at 8am Pacific. Over at Steam, you’ll also find the MKX Premium Edition on sale for 10% off as long as it’s in pre-order status, but GMG’s deal beats it decisively with another $17 off. Both DLGamer and GMG are authorized retailers.

Pre-order bonuses

In addition to the monetary savings, you’ll also get an in-game digital pre-order bonus. Not to beat around the bush too much…you only get one bonus, but it’s a doozy: Goro. Yes, the legendary four-armed character is only available as a pre-order bonus or additional DLC if you order post-release.

Premium vs. standard edition

The only extra you’re getting with the Premium Edition of the game is a “Kombat Pack” which will cost $29.99 if you buy it separately. Essentially it’s four DLC packs that include four additional characters and a ton of extra skins.

  • The Ultimate Horror Pack with Jason Voorhees as a playable character
  • The Klassic Pack #1 with Tanya as a playable character
  • The Predator / Prey Pack with Predator as a playable character
  • The Klassic Pack #2 with Tremor as a playable character

Mortal Kombat X releases April 14th on PC. Is the Premium Pack worth it? Only if you’re a Mortal Kombat die-hard, but if you’re going to eventually buy the whole pack, it makes more sense to get the Premium Edition now vs. buying it later for full price.
