That Beatle came from the moon! Or England. Whatever.
Paul McCartney, the legendary musician, singer, and songwriter, has contributed a theme song for Destiny, according to the New York Times. We don’t know much about the song, but McCartney recorded it at Abby Road Studios in the London borough of Westminister with a 120-piece orchestra.
McCartney also worked with former Bungie composer Marty O’Donnel on the game’s score. Of course, Marty O’Donnel was fired from Bungie in April and recently received a settlement from his former employer.
Destiny is a multiplayer first-person shooter coming out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on Sep. 9. You wouldn’t normally associate McCartney’s music, a lot of it about love and peace, with the violence of a shooter. Of course, he did provide the theme song for the James Bond film Live and Let Die back in 1973, which had its fair share of violence.
We’ve also seen somber, lyrical tracks work well in games like Red Dead Redemption. Hopefully, McCartney’s Destiny song can leave an equally lasting impression.
