Google launches weirdly fun 'Smarty Pins' trivia map game

“Ask as many questions as you can before you run out of miles.”

That’s the first instruction you get at the start of the new mapping trivia game from Google, Smarty Pins.

You first see a map in this web game, and it asks you trivia questions, with the answer being a city name. You have 15 seconds to answer each question.

Asked a question about the home of Fidel Castro, I got a map of Cuba and had to place a pin on the correct city. I placed the pin on Havana, the nation’s capital, and scored points.

You can also choose a trivia category. They include Arts & Culture, Science & Geography, Sports & Games, Entertainment, and History & Current Events.

I chose the Entertainment category, and I then received this question: “Rodney Dangerfield, Larry David, Anne Hathaway, and Woody Allen hail from this city.”

I dropped the pin on New York and won more points.

After about 15 minutes I realized I was enjoying myself and wasting time during work.

If you’re like me and you like trivia — and are a bit geographically challenged — you might like Smarty Pins.
