Tips For Pac Man Championship Edition DX

Pac Man Championship Edition DX hit XBLA and PSN recently, and is one of the most addictive games I have ever played. Namco has given an old franchise a chance at a new life and allowed a new generation to meet one of the oldest video game icons. While the game is full of content, the thing I come back to is trying to beat my high score on five minute score attack. Here are some tips to staying afloat on those leader boards.

  1. Conserve bombs:50% of the time, you didn’t need to use that bomb. See if you can get yourself out of a sticky situation without sending all of those ghosts back to the brink. Often moving back in forth in slow mo reveals the ghost coming after you turning back around. Use those precious explosives wisely.

  2. Don’t Die:I know this may seem obvious, but dying wastes time and brings down your game speed, two things that are critical to getting those high scores. That’s what those aforementioned bombs are for. Make sure it is the only option, and then rip one of the suckers off to avoid a Pac funeral.

  3. Watch Replays:This may be my most useful tip. Go to the leader boards and watch the replays of the top players on them. Those high scorers may give you tips on where to conserve time, making your way through a complicated ghost formation, and avoiding death. Usually after watching the number one guy, it makes it easy to beat your previous score and move up the ladder of success.

  4. Cut Corners:Cutting corners while racking up those ghosts can end up saving you a lot of time, allowing Pac Man another meal or two. Watch the replays to find out where to cut those corners for your course of choice.

  5. Conserve Power Pellets: The key to getting a high score is getting the longest line of ghosts you can, then eating them all in succession. Don’t rush to the nearest power pellet when you only have a few ghosts behind you, patience will triumph. Also, don’t waste that power pellet in the middle right away. Instead, use it for those last ten seconds of chaos to get a couple more points and maybe just surpassing that high score.

If any of these tips have helped you, please leave a comment. I hope to see you on those leaderboards!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Follow me on twitter: beastiegens
