Video Blips: Splatterhouse, Divine Souls, Ni no Kuni, and More

I'm glad Splatterhouse is a remake of the classic 1988 beat-'em-up arcade game of the same name. Otherwise, it could've been some low-budget skin-flick.

Video Blips:

• Splatterhouse protagonist Rick employs makeshift weapons — such as wooden planks and meat cleavers — and his trusty fists to battle various monsters. Nice mask, Rick, but I think Jason Voorhees wants a word with you.

Continue after the break for the combo-pushing combat of Divine Souls, a look into the magnificent world of Ni no Kuni, and the North American debut of Atelier Rorona.

• This trailer for Divine Souls claims you need to be masterful, powerful, and vengeful in order to achieve ultimate victory. Or, you can simply mash the attack button until your fingers fall off. [GameTrailers]

• Ghibli (the animation studio behind Spirited Away) designed the vividly colorful setting of Ni no Kuni. They also have a penchant for including heartbreaking, tear-jerking scenes in their works, so be warned. [GameVideos]

• Every fantastical medieval-themed village needs its alchemist — even the sprawling kingdom of Arland in Atelier Rorona. Of course, the alchemist is a cute little girl. This is a Japanese role-playing game, after all. [GameTrailers]
