Fairytale Fights in 300 Words (Xbox 360)

Fairytale Fights coverRed Riding Hood, Snow White, a Naked Emperor, and Jack… of beanstalk, have all been overlooked and had their exploits forgotten. These four are looking to regain their fame by playing hero for the fairytale community while using an array of weapons to leave a trail of destruction and blood (lots and lots of blood) behind them.

The thing that Fairytale Fights promises is blood, and it delivers. There is so much that your character slides across the ground leaving trails of red. Using an array of fun weapons such as swordfish, broken shards of candy, and musical instruments, you can bash and slice armies of wolves, dwarves, and gingerbread men to pieces.

Blood in Fairytale Fights

This is done in a way similar to twin stick shooters, the left stick is movement and the right stick is the attack. This becomes boring though when spinning the right stick around mindlessly is enough to defeat just about every enemy.

When the blood is the only fun part of combat and combat is the only thing to the game, Fairytale Fights gets tiring quickly.

More blood in Fairytale FightsFairytale Fights also forces you to die, a lot. When you can finish a level with 20 deaths and still receive an ‘A’ rating then you know something is wrong. The game has many traps set throughout levels, but even things such as ledges can be considered death traps when attacks can easily carry you over the side of a bridge to your doom.

Fairytale Fights looks pretty, it uses the Unreal 3 engine well, but is seen through a terrible camera. The game makes you endure untimely and unfair deaths, and is far to shallow in actual game play. Fairytale Fights should have been a cheap, downloadable, and short game, but as a $50 retail release, it can hardly stand.
