Need any more proof of the Wii’s popularity among the senior set? Last week, TexanPlus HMO sponsored a Wii Bowling tournament that attracted over 550 Houston senior citizens, enough to qualify for a Guinness record. To really get participants in the swing of things, they even placed mini-bowling lanes between the contestants and TVs. [via Game Hunters]
TexanPlus isn’t going to sit around on their Guinness laurels, though — apparently the Most Seniors in a Gym Playing Wii Bowling title requires vigorous defense. They’re advertising another tournament for October 8th, and they want people (you?) to form teams. When we were in our parents’ basement playing Metroid or Kid Icarus for hours and hours, none of us would have ever believed our grandmothers would eventually fall in love with the same pastime. Ah, the wonders of time and technology….
