PlayPhone said today it has added 20 new games to its mobile social gaming network in time for the holidays.

The expansion is timely since mobile developer Gree will soon shut down its OpenFeint mobile social gaming network in favor of its own Gree network, leaving thousands of developers in the lurch. The new developers for San Francisco-based PlayPhone include iWin, Mingle Games, One-Sock Prince, Delores Entertainment, WedgeKase and others.

The PlayPhone Social Gaming Network is a cross-platform network in which players can communicate across mobile devices running Android, iOS, and HTML5. PlayPhone says it has millions of users on tablets and smartphones in 25 countries.

Among the games coming to PlayPhone is Jewel Quest: Heritage from iWin. That “match three” title has millions of existing fans. PlayPhone didn’t list all 20 titles, but some of them include:

  • Save the Birds (Android, iOS)
  • Jumping Jackabee (Android, iOS)
  • Cliff Diving 3D Live  (Android)
  • Galaxy Bowling 3D (Android)
  • Longbow (Android)
  • The Floor is Lava (Android)
  • L-Fun 45 (iOS, Android)
  • Ice Cream Surfer (Android, iOS)
  • Max & Mia (Android, iOS)
  • iCastellers (Android, iOS)
  • Lince (Android)
  • Spooky Sprint (Android)
  • Magic Wizards (Android)

“We’re thrilled that more and more developers are choosing PlayPhone’s one-stop publishing solution to distribute, monetize and market their games,” said Anders Evju, the executive vice president of business development and strategic partnerships at PlayPhone. “With PlayPhone’s SDK 2.0 [software development kit], it’s even easier for developers to access the most advanced mobile gaming developer tools plus carrier app stores, one-click carrier billing and hundreds of millions of users.”

PlayPhone raised money from Menlo Ventures, Cardinal Venture Capital, Coral Group, and Scale Venture Partners.
