You can make a difference. That’s right. Your signature (alongside 299,999 others) can convince first-person shooter developer Crytek to bring back its TimeSplitters games.
Crytek is aware of a petition on Change.org started by Daniel Wesoly of the United Kingdom that asks Crytek U.K. (formerly Free Radical Design) to create a TimeSplitters HD Collection.
“The petition doesn’t look that convincing, unfortunately,” said Crytek chief executive officer Cevat Yerli in an interview with GameInformer. “At a personal level, I’m a big fan of TimeSplitters 2. For me, I would to see the game out here, as a newborn HD version or what not. But the case of turning this into a business decision is still difficult.”
TimeSplitters is a classic first-person-shooter franchise. It was the primary intellectual property of developer Free Radical Design, which was founded by former members of developer Rare, the studio that created Goldeneye 007 for the Nintendo 64. The last game in the TimeSplitters series was 2005’s TimeSplitters: Future Perfect for Xbox, PlayStation 2, and GameCube.
“There’s a very hardcore market that is very verbal about [TimeSplitters],” said Yerli. “If they could get the petition together [with the 300,00 signatures], I would be very happy to put it in front of decision makers in the company, the key stakeholders, and say, ‘Look here. This is how it is. Let’s make it now.'”
From the time I started this post to the time I finished it, the petitions supporters grew from 13,000 to 19,000. That’s still a long way to reach 300,000.
