Paramount announced today that it has completed its merger with Warner Bros Discover. The combined company now operates under the name Skydance. The new company brings together a multitude of brands and media, including Warner Bros Games. At present, the company hasn’t been clear about how games will play into its new version of the company.

In its statement on the merger, Skydance noted that it intended to pursue growth in “every entertainment vertical,” without naming games specifically. However, in a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Games is named as a “secret weapon” when it comes to paying down the company’s combined $80 billion in debt.

The company gave its mission statement in a press release, saying, “Paramount and Warner Bros. shaped over a century of culture. By combining them, we aren’t rewriting history — we’re equipping these iconic studios with a more powerful engine. Together, we are Skydance: a creative-first home for bold, quality storytelling.”

David Ellison, Skydance CEO, said in a statement, “From the start, our ambition was to bring these two storied studios together and create a stronger competitor, with the talent, resources, and reach to tell great stories in every genre, on every platform, for audiences everywhere. Now that ambition is a reality.”
