GDC Festival of Gaming has expanded its advisory board in the hopes of turning around its fortunes as a premier game development event in the U.S.
The San Francisco conference, which drew 20,000 attendees last year, has named four new members:
- Amir Satvat, general partner at 1Up Ventures and a game jobs champion who has helped more than 5,000 people find jobs;
- Perrin Kaplan, a longtime marketing and PR leader in gaming and cofounder of Zebra Partners;
- Alexa Ray Correia, expert narrative writer (and former journalist) at Gearbox Software;
- Lucien Parsons, fractional COO at Dragon Snacks Games.
It’s a great bunch of folks, and we’ll see if they can help GDC. It had a better show last year as it embraced a city-wide festival. But it has a long way to go to recover its past crowds.
In a LinkedIn post, GDC said, “We’d like to welcome the newest advisory board members to the GDC Family! Welcome Amir Satvat, Alexa Ray Corriea, Lucien Parsons, and Perrin Kaplan. We’re thrilled with the wealth of experience and knowledge all our new members bring to share with GDC.”
