PlanetPlay announced that it is teaming up with UNICEF to harness the power of gamers to support children around the world. The two entities will work together to create games-based fundraisers and awareness initiatives to support various children’s causes. The first of these, the PlayForEveryChild PC Games Collection launches in October.
According to PlanetPlay, the PlayForEveryChild PC Games Collection will be sold exclusively through its games marketplace, and 100% of the profits will be channeled to UNICEF to benefit kids by way of education, healthcare, climate resilience programs and emergency response. PlanetPlay is calling upon game studios and publishers to contribute titles to the Collection by June 30.
Rhea Loucas, PlanetPlay CEO, said in a statement, “Games have the power to connect billions of people, and this partnership with UNICEF shows what can be possible when that power is harnessed for global impact. We’re creating a model that makes it simple for studios to get involved, meaningful for players to participate, and impactful for the communities we’re supporting. The PlayForEveryChild PC Games Collection is just the beginning.”
Andrew Todd, UNICEF UK’s director of partnerships, added, “UNICEF works in over 190 countries to protect the rights of every child; we do whatever it takes to help children survive, thrive and fulfil their potential. At UNICEF, we recognize that gaming can be a force for change. Through our new partnership with PlanetPlay, we are hoping to connect with players in meaningful ways to amplify children’s voices while offering simple, accessible ways to the games industry to take action.”
