Ray Browser, the new browser built for web gaming, announced today that it has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer, David Diaz. Formerly serving as the company’s Chief Commercial Officer, Diaz negotiated partnerships that added over 350 games to Ray’s built-in gaming platform.

Diaz said in a statement, “Ray already gives the TikTok generation a place where gaming and social connection both happen at the speed of thought. As CEO, I’ll keep pushing our team to stretch what a browser can do — whether that’s delivering lightning‑fast gameplay, effortless split‑screen multitasking, or new ways for users to connect with friends.”

Diaz originally joined Ray Browser in 2024 as its CCO, and he succeeds Jaakko Manninen in the CEO role. Manninen will take up the role of Chief Architect, focusing on building out Ray’s feature roadmap and next-gen engine. Manninen said of the move, “Handing the reins to David lets me dive even deeper into the architecture while he scales Ray to the millions of gamers who deserve a browser built for them.”

Since its launch in 2022, Ray has raised around $7.8 million in funding from Play Ventures, FOV Ventures, a16z Speedrun, Samsung Next, Spatial Capital, MGV and Mini Fund, among others. As part of its future plans, Ray will incorporate generative AI into its core engine to “anticipate player intent and surface real‑time recommendations.” It will also add an engagement framework and bring Ray to Chromebooks. Ray Browser was one of the 2025 Game Changers, honored at GamesBeat Next 2024.
