An Assassin’s Creed III remaster is coming with Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. This move has many fans raising their eyebrows. Despite selling over 7 million copies, Assassin’s Creed III has a reputation as one of the franchise’s weaker installments. But Assassin’s Creed III connected with me, and this upcoming remaster has compelled me to defend the 2012 open-world game.

Despite its name, Assassin’s Creed III is the fifth installment in the franchise. The first came out in 2007 and focused on the Third Crusade. Assassin’s Creed II and its sequels (Brotherhood and Revelations) took place during the Italian Renaissance era. Assassin’s Creed III went to the American Revolution.
