Lineage2: Revolution is a huge hit

Revolution opens signups for its mobile MMO outside of Asia

Netmarble announced today that it is opening what it’s calling “preregistration” (though this is just signing up) for its mobile massively multiplayer online role-playing game Lineage 2: Revolution globally (yes, this means North America, Europe, and the Middle East, and more). It has already launched in much of Asia, where it has been topping mobile charts.

The global launch for Revolution will happen within a year. It’s a mobile take on Lineage II, a PC MMO that has had millions of players (especially in Asia) since it launched in 2003. Revolution gives the brand a way to expand to the lucrative mobile market.

We had a chance to check out Revolution at the Electronic Entertainment Expo earlier this year. It impressed us enough to win one of our Unreal Awards, which we give out in conjunction with Epic Games to the most impressive titles that use its engine. Lineage 2: Revolution won the “Best Sequel” category.

“Lineage 2: Revolution stays true to its PC roots, displaying a stunning open field, raids, 200-player castle sieges, character re-designs and classes, all in a mobile environment,” Netmarble detailed in a press release sent to GamesBeat. “A fully-featured MMORPG provides seamless open-world environments, real-time 3-vs.-3 and 50-vs.-50 PvP (player vs. player) battles, as well as lifelike fantasy world with dazzling graphics backed by the Unreal 4 engine.”
