Closers is a South Korean MMO blend of Final Fight & Sailor Moon, and En Masse is bringing it West

En Masse Entertainment announced today that is bringing Closers to North America and Europe. Closers is an online action role-playing game for PC with an anime look and beat-’em-up mechanics. Closed alpha tests for the game will start in September, with an open beta following later in the fall.

“The online action RPG, developed by [South Korean studio] Naddic Games, follows the exploits of an elite team of psychic teens in the futuristic city of New Seoul as they balance the everyday obligations of high school life with the daunting task of saving all of civilization from an army of invading interdimensional aliens,” En Masse explained in a press release sent to GamesBeat. So, you know, typical anime stuff.

Closers has been out in South Korea since 2014. The Seattle-based En Masse has made a business out of bringing Asian online games to the West. This most notably includes the action massively multiplayer online game Tera, which has over 26 million registered players around the world. The relaunch of the South Korean shooter Alliance of Valiant Arms was its last major localization project.

Closer takes its influence from the classic arcade brawlers you probably saw in malls and movie theaters during the ’90s. You’ll be able to choose between one of five characters, each with different playstyles.
