The fight against dinosaurs is about to get a lot more random.

The dino-themed Ark: Survival Evolved has received a new update that adds procedurally generated maps, meaning that new areas in the game will have randomized landscapes and features. Ark is currently playable via early access on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game has been in that state for a long, originally releasing its early access version for PC in June 2015. Developer Studio Wildcard has even released an expansion for Ark, but it’s still not in its final release and continually receives new features like this.

“Players can determine a myriad of landscape options from the heights of mountains, depths of valleys, and the number of lakes, rivers or oceans, to the kinds of each biomes they want, and more!” Studio Wildcard noted in a press release sent to GamesBeat. “Procedurally-generated maps bolster Aek’s replay value and player creativity level, adding a whole new dimension to the already immense game.”

The update also adds new prehistoric creatures, like the “boulder-tossing Chalicotherium” and the “oxygen-giving Diplocaulus.” It also introduces the Explorer Note System, a series of stories found inside new chests scattered through the game.
