D.I.C.E. is going to be Epic thanks to sponsorship

Las Vegas about to get a little more unreal.

Epic Games announced today that it will sponsor 2016’s D.I.C.E. Summit in Las Vegas on February 16 through February 18. The conference will gather many of the top minds and creative thinkers in the gaming industry. While other gaming events gear more toward showcasing products to the public, D.I.C.E. allows developers and other industry people to learn from each other and reflect on the state of the industry.

Virtual reality will be a big part of the event. The Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, two anticipated VR consumer devices, release this year. Epic Games is working on its own VR title, Bullet Train, which it will show at the D.I.C.E. Summit.

“VR puts you into experiences in a way never before possible, and with Bullet Train we’re using that immersive aspect to deliver an over-the-top experience inspired by our favorite action movies from the ’90s and ’00s,”  said Ray Davis, Epic’s Seattle studio manager, in a press release sent to GamesBeat. “Wield a variety of weapons, grab bullets out of the air to throw them back at your adversaries, and battle huge flying robots all while teleporting around the environment fluidly. The D.I.C.E. Summit provides a great opportunity for folks to check out our latest VR demo and get an idea of what the possibilities are with this emerging medium.”

Epic also notes that its celebrating 20 years of its Unreal Engine, which it uses to power its own games and licenses to other developers.
