Gorgeous puzzle-platformer Unravel gets February release date

At the big Electronic Entertainment Expo trade show earlier this year, publisher Electronic Arts dropped in a bit of charming whimsy between its triple-A games about explosions.

Unravel is a new game from independent developer Coldwood Interactive out of Sweden, and it is going to debut on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on February 9. This adventure tells the story of an old woman who has lost contact with her family and how Yarny — a magical creature made out of yarn — will reconnect her to the ones she loves. To accomplish his goal, Yarny will have to traverse photorealistic forest, urban, and industrial terrain while solving environmental puzzles. If that sounds adorable, that’s because it is, which makes it a unique entry in the EA roster of games.
