Magic: The Gathering — Puzzle Quest is available now iOS and Android devices. The free-to-play title combines the lore and strategy of the popular Magic: The Gathering card game with role-playing game inspired, match-3 mechanics of Puzzle Quest. It will also come out to the Amazon Appstore in the coming weeks.

Magic: The Gathering is an interesting choice for a new game, since fans seem to love it for card game mechanics and less for its lore. It’ll be interesting to see how a Magic game performs in the match-3 world.

“We can’t wait for Puzzle Quest and Magic: The Gathering fans to download and experience the game for themselves,” said Peter Andrew, vice president of publishing at D3 Go, in a press release sent to GamesBeat. “Magic: The Gathering — Puzzle Quest is the perfect blend of match-3 and trading card gameplay that is very easy to pick up and play, while providing great depth and strategy for those that truly want to master the game.”

The Puzzle Quest series started back in 2007 as an original IP, but its first licensed entry came in 2013 with Marvel Puzzle Quest on mobile. It’s been a busy year for the franchise. 2015 saw the launch of the Magic Origins card set and a new, free-to-play game, Magic Duels: Origins, for mobile.
