Bloodborne is a difficult game filled with werewolves, eldritch horrors, and gigantic beasts out for your blood. But, for some, the true challenge lies in stalking their fellow hunters in the game’s player vs. player mode.

Invading the world of another hunter is fairly straightforward, if esoteric. Both the host (the person being invaded) and the guest need to have PlayStation Plus subscriptions, and they must be playing the game online. The guest then rings an item called the Sinister Resonant Bell. The host rings their own bell, but only in areas where a non-playable character called a Chime Maiden is present. Then, after a short amount of time (or sometimes many, many minutes), the guest is transported to the host’s game. If the invader is successful, he’ll receive a reward and then be returned to his own game world.
