Indie studio 3AM Experiences has surpassed 1 billion plays across its Roblox games, a milestone that caps a two-year run in which the company also bought and rebuilt two of the .io era’s most recognizable titles, Mope.io and Diep.io.

In recent years, 3AM has quietly created a dual identity for itself: a fast-growing Roblox and UGC operation on one side, and a preservation project for aging browser games on the other. The company announced the 1 billion Roblox plays milestone on May 1, alongside more than 700 million UGC visits, while continuing to rebuild Mope.io and Diep.io, two titles it rescued from Addicting Games in 2024.

Roblox is where 3AM Experiences has found its biggest audience by far. Founded in 2015, 3AM got it’s start during the early rise of .io browser gaming, and has since expanded into web, mobile, and Roblox development. The studio credits the massive 1 billion-play milestone to years of updates, support, and feedback from the larger Roblox community. 3AM has stated that it intends to keep expanding both on Roblox and beyond, with further pushes toward UGC and building worlds players can create in alongside its own teams.

In 2024, two of the internet’s most popular .io games were acquired by 3AM Experiences. The company acquired Mope.io for over a million dollars in August 2024, before adding Diep.io to their repertoire shortly after. Both titles were purchases from Addicting Games. Mope.io was originally created by Stan Tatarnykov, while Diep.io was developed by Matheus Valadares. Both games accrued large fanbases during the height of the .io popularity wave, before later being acquired by Addicting Games.

After being taken over by 3AM Experiences, Mope.io received much more than just a facelift. The studio maintained the game’s existing legacy codebase through January 2026 before releasing a complete rewrite in June, built on Phoenix.Engine, a TypeScript and Node.js multiplayer engine developed by a 3AM Experiences engineer known as DarePhoenix. The rebuild replaced technology dating back to Mope.io’s original 2016 launch and was carried out under contract for VexxusArts, according to DarePhoenix’s own portfolio.

The studio took a different route with Diep.io. Rather than a ground-up rewrite, the team has continued developing within the game’s existing C++ codebase, treating it as a live service that requires ongoing bug fixes, performance tuning and balance changes. The studio has also relied on a community feedback group, described as the Diep Insiders, made up of roughly 10 to 15 players who help relay player sentiment to developers.

The revival hasn’t stayed confined to servers and code. 3AM Experiences has built out an in-person events calendar around its properties, starting with a small MopeCon gathering in Marrakesh in 2024 and growing into the larger 3AM Expo in Lisbon in 2025. The company followed that with Diep Con in 2026, expanding the event to both Algeria and Barcelona after what organizers described as high demand.

3AM Experiences is betting that old browser games still have an audience worth fighting for, positioning itself less as a publisher sitting on legacy IP and more as an active steward of titles that might otherwise have faded out with their original owners.
